COLD AND FLU SYMPTOMSThe Doctors would like to advise all patients suffering from cold or flu symptoms and sore throats, that the best treatment is Paracetamol and rest. Antibiotics are not given to treat these symptoms and therefore an appointment with a medical practitioner is not necessary. HPV VACCINE (Cervical cancer)There is now a vaccine to protect against cervical cancer and it's being offered to all 17 and 18 year old girls. You will need 3 injections over 6 months to get the best protection. This is the 1st time a vaccination programme against cervical cancer has been provided in this country, so we have a great opportunity to help prevent the spread of a very serious disease. If you'd like more information, please visit www.immunisation.nhs.uk/hpv.
We will be sending out letters in 2 batches, ie 1 batch in the October and the other in November. You should receive a letter containing the details of these clinics. Further clinics will be available during December. HEALTH SCREENINGAre you aged 45+, don't suffer from heart disease, diabetes or a stroke in the past? We are offering cardiovascular risk assessments with Natalie Bretherton. We'll test your blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar and calculate if you're at risk of developing heart disease in the future. We can offer you help, support and advice to reduce your risk. ORGAN DONATIONOrgan donation registration in the UK is at a seriously low level. Dealing with illness or accident is a traumatic experience - think about yourself or your family and how it might impact on your lives if you had to be included on a waiting list for organ transplant. If you are not already registered we'd like to encourage you to give this your serious consideration. If you decide you and your family would like to become organ donors you can pick up a leaflet and registration form from the surgery. CANCELLING APPOINTMENTSWe lose more than one doctors surgery and one nurses surgery each week due to patients not attending their appointment. To help improve access to doctors and nurses, please cancel your appointment if you are unable to attend. The more notice you give us, the more chance there is of another patient booking that appointment. The cancellation line number is: 01204 799955. Thank you for your co-operation. APPOINTMENTSPatients are reminded that a 10 minute appointment with a doctor is to deal with one problem. If you have several health problems that need the attention of a doctor, please ask the reception staff to book a double appointment.
If your GP decides to refer you to see a Consultant, you will be offered a choice of available Consultants and Hospitals. You will be given a leaflet explaining choice where appropriate. Back to top
