ISSUE 37
MARCH 2010

Patient Survey

The Department of Health is running a patient survey to assess patients' experiences of their local NHS services. This means that from April 2010, some of our patients will receive a questionnaire asking about their experiences and includes a wide range of issues. In order for the results to be reliable, it is important that all patients who are invited to complete the survey return their questionnaire. The first lot of questionnaire go out to patients during the week beginning 5th.April 2010.

SWINE FLU VACCINATIONS ARE STILL GOING ON

While special swine flu clinics are no longer being held, the nurses will still give the injections to patients in "at risk" groups. Please ask in the reception for appointments with the Practice Nurse.

Where would you like to pick up your prescription?

If you are not on a prescription pick-up scheme with the Chemist, please remember to tell us whether you want to pick your prescription up from Stonehill or Highfield Surgery. This is to avoid patients having to travel further for medication and perhaps delaying or having a break in their treatment.

Please do not park on the yellow lines on the car park,it makes it much harder to maneuver in and out.

R U Clear??????

If you are between 15 and 24 you can get a DIY STD kit from the Practice nurse or Doctor. Chances are that you will be offered one when attending your appointment anyway, but if not, please do ask for one so you can get yourself tested for Sexually Transmitted Diseases.

Smoking and Alcohol Week

We are shortly to hold a Smoking and Alcohol Week where our aim is to update the information we have regarding patients' smoking and alcohol habits and also give advice on these. We will be giving out information booklets and hope as many patients as possible will grab this chance to let us help them adopt a healthy lifestyle.

Protect Your Child Against Diseases

We would like to emphasize the importance of childhood immunizations. Childhood diseases such as polio, measles, mumps and rubella (German measles) can have terrible consequences and children need to be protected from these. Health Visitors will advise parents of newborn babies about immunization but if anyone still has any doubt or questions, please come and see one of our GPs or nurses who will be able to help. The nurses have a Baby Clinic every Monday 1.30—4pm where they immunize. If this time is not suitable for you, please make an appointment with the Practice Nurse and tell the receptionist it is for immunization.

National No Smoking Day

This will be held on Wednesday 10th March 2010. This is any smoker's great opportunity to break free from the chains of a smoking habit—or at least to kick-start the process of quitting. So, why not make an appointment to Louise, our Nurse Assistant, who will be able to help stop smoking. Please ask for details or let the receptionist book you in.
