Practice Area

The practice covers an area which used to be Turton Urban District. Boundary reorganisations divided Turton in half. The northern half was incorporated into Lancashire and South Cumbria Health Authority's jurisdiction. The southern half was incorporated into Bolton and thus is part of Wigan and Bolton Health Authority's jurisdiction.

From 1st April 1999 the practice became part of Bolton North East Primary Care Group. This was one of three Primary Care Groups in Bolton. On 1st April 2002, the 3 Primary Care Groups joined with Bolton Community Healthcare NHS Trust to become a Primary Care Trust. All patients, irrespective of where they live, are part of this Primary Care Trust.
 
Due to Government changes, the Primary Care Trust will be disbanded in March 2013 and a local Health Consortium will take its place.
